In a gesture of commitment to promises made, Abhishek Banerjee ensured that job card holders, who had participated in protests in Delhi seeking their pending dues, received their payments at their doorstep.
Canning West MLA Paresh Ram Das, acting on Abhishek Banerjee's instructions, personally delivered the funds and well wishes sent by Members of Parliament to the Matla 1 Panchayat area on Thursday.
The initiative kicked off in the Canning sub-division, with a total of 18 individuals receiving their dues in the first phase. Despite challenges from the central government, recipients such as Bappa Mistry, Annapurna Shikhari, and Swati Mistry expressed their happiness at receiving compensation for their hard work, attributing their success to the concerted efforts of the MPs.
